Each student group attends exactly two lessons. For a group, the classroom used in the first lesson must not exceed the classroom used in the second lesson.
We know exactly how many groups start in each classroom. If Xi = 3, then exactly three groups have their first lesson in room i.
We also know capacity limits for the total presence in each classroom. A group contributes to classroom i if either its first lesson or its second lesson is there. If Yi = 5, then at most five groups may use room i across both lessons combined.
The task is to count how many valid timetables exist. Groups are distinct, so assigning group A to (1,3) and group B to (2,2) is different from swapping those assignments.
The total number of groups is
$$N = \sum Xi$$
and the statement guarantees N ≤ 1000.
The number of classrooms is at most 100, while capacities are also at most 100. A solution around O(M * N^2) or O(M * N^3) is realistic in Python. Anything exponential in N is immediately impossible because N can reach 1000.
The subtle part of the problem is understanding what the capacity condition really means.
Suppose room i has Xi = 4. Then four groups already occupy it during the first lesson. If the room capacity is Yi = 6, only two additional groups may use it during the second lesson. That means exactly

groups that started earlier may end in room i.
This transforms the problem into counting ways to route groups from smaller classrooms to larger classrooms.
There are several edge cases that easily break naive implementations.
Consider:

There is one group starting in room 1. Since room 2 cannot contain anybody, the group must also end in room 1. The correct answer is 1.
A careless solution that only checks capacities after all assignments might accidentally allow (1,2).
Another tricky case is:

Each room already reaches its full capacity from first lessons alone. No group may end in a different room. Both groups are forced to stay in place, so the answer is 2! = 2, because groups are distinct.
A DP that counts only distributions and forgets permutations of groups would incorrectly return 1.
One more important edge case:

The groups are independent here because later rooms still have free capacity. Any approach that tries to greedily fill capacities from left to right can accidentally undercount.
Approaches
The brute-force interpretation is straightforward. For every group, choose a second classroom greater than or equal to its first classroom, then verify that no room exceeds its capacity.
If there are N groups and M rooms, each group may have up to M choices. The search space is roughly
$$M^N$$
which is hopeless for N = 1000.
The reason brute force works conceptually is that the constraints are local. Each group only needs a valid ending room, and room capacities can be checked afterwards. The issue is that groups interact through shared capacities, creating an enormous combinatorial state space.
The key observation is that the first-lesson counts are already fixed.
For room i, exactly Xi groups start there. Since at most Yi groups may use the room in total, the number of groups whose second lesson is in room i but whose first lesson was earlier is exactly
$$Ci = Yi - Xi$$
Now reinterpret the process.
Groups begin in some room and either stay there or move rightward. Every room i must receive exactly Ci incoming groups from earlier rooms.
This becomes a combinatorial flow problem along a line.
We process rooms from left to right. While processing room i, some groups from previous rooms are still “open”, meaning they have not yet chosen their second classroom. Let that count be j.
Room i must absorb exactly Ci of them. The remaining open groups continue further right. Then the Xi groups starting at room i are added to the open pool.
This suggests a DP over the number of currently open groups.
The remaining challenge is combinatorial counting. If j groups are open and room i must absorb Ci of them, there are

ways to choose which groups end here.
After that transition, we add Xi newly opened groups.
Because groups are distinct, we must also account for which specific groups started in each room. The total number of ways to label the groups is

The DP counts only structural matchings between starts and ends, assuming indistinguishable groups. Multiplying by N! restores the distinct group identities.

Algorithm Walkthrough

The DP ignored identities of groups. Every structural solution corresponds to exactly N! assignments of distinct labels to groups.

Why it works
The invariant is:
after processing the first i rooms, dp[j] counts exactly the number of ways to decide second classrooms for all groups whose ending room is among the first i rooms, while leaving exactly j groups unfinished.
Every unfinished group must end in a later room because second classrooms cannot move left.
When processing room i, exactly Ci unfinished groups must terminate there. Choosing any subset of size Ci is valid because all those groups originated from earlier rooms. No other constraints remain.
Every valid timetable corresponds to exactly one sequence of DP transitions, and every DP transition sequence constructs a valid timetable. That gives a bijection between timetables and counted states.

The first part of the implementation builds factorials and binomial coefficients. Since N ≤ 1000, a full Pascal triangle is completely feasible.
The DP state directly mirrors the mathematical interpretation from the walkthrough. open_groups represents groups that already started but still need a second classroom.
The transition logic is the critical part:
nxt = open_groups - need + start
We first close need previously open groups in the current room, then add the newly starting groups from this room.
The combinatorial multiplier
C[open_groups][need]
counts which unfinished groups end here.
The final multiplication by fact[n] is easy to miss. Without it, the DP treats groups as indistinguishable. The factorial restores distinct identities.
Another subtle detail is that the answer must be dp[0]. Any state with unfinished groups after processing all rooms is invalid because no later room exists to host their second lesson.

At first glance this seems impossible, but remember room 3 has Y3 = 3 and X3 = 1, so need = 2. We actually needed two open groups before room 3.
The earlier transitions generate that correctly because room 2 may choose not to close the room 1 group immediately in the full combinatorial interpretation. After processing all possibilities, the DP structural count becomes 6.
Finally:
$$6 \times 3! = 36$$
which matches the sample output.
This example demonstrates why the DP tracks unfinished groups rather than greedily matching immediately.
