Movement rules are unusual. You can move only between adjacent cells that share an edge, but:

  • buildings are blocked.

The car starts from a street tile, must visit a sequence of junctions in the given order, and finally stop at another street tile. Among all paths satisfying those checkpoints, it always chooses the globally shortest one. After reaching the destination, it stays there forever.

We must determine the position after exactly k minutes.

The first thing to notice is the size of the map. The grid is at most 100 × 100, so there are at most 10^4 cells. That is small enough for graph algorithms like Dijkstra from many sources. The junction sequence length is at most 1000, so recomputing expensive shortest paths for every minute would be wasteful, but recomputing them for every segment is completely feasible.

The tricky part is that the statement does not ask for the shortest distance. It asks for the exact position after k minutes along one optimal route. That means we need to reconstruct the actual movement, not only distances.

Approaches

The most direct solution is to model the whole grid as a weighted graph. Every traversable cell becomes a node, and edges connect adjacent valid cells with the appropriate movement cost. Then we could run Dijkstra repeatedly:

  • from the start to the first junction,
  • from one junction to the next,
  • from the last junction to the destination.

After reconstructing all shortest paths, we concatenate them and simulate the movement minute by minute until time k.

This is correct because Dijkstra handles arbitrary positive edge weights. The graph has at most 10^4 vertices and roughly 4 × 10^4 edges, so one Dijkstra run is already affordable.

The problem is path reconstruction ambiguity. Multiple shortest paths may exist in a general weighted graph. The statement guarantees that the sequence of junctions forms a valid route, but it does not provide any tie-breaking rule. Reconstructing arbitrary shortest paths can produce inconsistencies.

The key observation is that this city is not an arbitrary graph. Streets are isolated corridors. Once we know which two endpoints we are connecting, the route is forced.

Suppose we stand at a junction. Any adjacent street tile belongs to exactly one street corridor. Following that corridor forward is deterministic because:

  • street tiles never branch sideways,
  • no two streets touch each other,
  • junctions separate corridors.

So instead of running shortest path algorithms, we can literally walk along the unique corridor between checkpoints.

The full route becomes deterministic:

  • start street → first junction,
  • junction → junction,
  • last junction → destination.

For each segment, we repeatedly move to the only valid next tile that is not the previous tile. We record arrival times along the way. Once cumulative time reaches or exceeds k, we know the current position.

This turns the problem into pure simulation on a sparse deterministic structure.

Why it works

The city constraints force every street corridor to behave like a simple chain. At any interior street tile, there are exactly two traversable neighbors: the previous tile and the next tile. At corridor endpoints, the continuation is uniquely determined by the junction structure.

Because of this, once the sequence of checkpoints is fixed, the actual shortest route is also fixed. Any detour would revisit tiles unnecessarily and increase total cost since all movement costs are positive.

The algorithm always advances along this unique corridor, so every simulated move belongs to the shortest valid route. Since we accumulate exact movement costs in chronological order, the first position whose arrival time reaches k is precisely the position after k minutes.

The checkpoints array contains the full mandatory route structure. Consecutive elements are always connected by a unique corridor.

The most delicate part is neighbor selection. We never perform BFS or Dijkstra. Instead, from every current cell we choose the only traversable neighbor different from the previous cell. The city constraints guarantee that this uniquely determines the route.

Another subtle detail is the movement cost convention. The cost depends on the entered cell:

  • entering a digit tile costs that digit,
  • entering a junction costs 1.

The code computes the cost after selecting the next cell, not before.
