Problem Understanding

We are given a string consisting of 0, 1, and ?. Each character represents a card in a row. During the game, players alternately remove one card until only two cards remain. Masha moves first and wants the final two-bit binary number to be as small as possible, while Petya wants it as large as possible.

The final answer is not a single outcome. Some positions are unknown because of ?, and every ? may independently become either 0 or 1. For every completed binary string, both players play optimally, producing one final pair among 00, 01, 10, and 11. We must output every pair that can appear for at least one assignment of the ? characters.

The length can reach 10^5, so we cannot simulate games over all assignments. Even if there were only 30 question marks, that already gives 2^30 possibilities, which is completely infeasible. The solution must work in linear time or close to it.

The tricky part is understanding what optimal play actually means. A naive simulation may try minimax over all moves, but there are up to 10^5 cards, so the game tree is enormous. The key observation is that only the counts of zeros and ones matter, together with whose turn controls the last remaining cards.

Approaches

The brute-force approach is conceptually straightforward. We could generate every possible replacement for the ? characters, then solve the resulting game using minimax. For a fixed binary string of length n, the game tree contains an enormous number of states because each move chooses one remaining card. Even memoization over subsets would still be exponential.

Suppose there are k question marks. Then there are 2^k completed strings. With k = 10^5, this is hopeless immediately. Even for a fixed string without question marks, the minimax game is far too large.

The crucial observation is that the exact order of cards does not matter. Only the multiset of digits matters. Players remove cards, and eventually exactly two survive. The surviving pair is determined entirely by how many zeros and ones remain after optimal play.

Let the initial length be n.

Exactly n - 2 moves are made.

Masha moves first and wants the final binary number minimized. Since the left bit is more significant, she primarily wants the first remaining digit to become 0. Petya wants the opposite.

Instead of thinking about arbitrary deletions, we can think in reverse. Two cards survive. Every other card is removed by one of the players. The number of moves by each player is fixed by parity.

The game ends with two remaining cards after exactly n - 2 removals. 3. Compute how many moves each player makes.
